SINGAPORE (EDGEPROP) – Mitbana, a joint-venture company of Surbana Jurong and Mitsubishi Corp, is partnering Indonesian developer Sinar Mas Land to develop one of the largest mixed-use projects in BSD City in Greater Jakarta, Indonesia.

The 108ha project features residential and transit-oriented developments, and it will be helmed by Sinar Mitbana Mas, the joint-venture company between Mitbana and Sinar Mas Land.

The project is called Hiera, a name derived from the Japanese characters for “peace and harmony”. According to the developers, the name refers to the design inspiration for the whole development, “balancing an active urban lifestyle with holistic wellness for its residents”.

“Hiera will exemplify how nature and urbanisation can coexist harmoniously. It will pioneer new and innovative designs while protecting the environment,” says Vincent Lee, deputy COO of Mitbana and president director of Sinar Mitbana Mas.

Hiera will feature community building spaces and amenities contributing to a self-sufficient development. It will also feature a car-free commercial street with retail, dining, and entertainment options.

The architecture will incorporate elements of biophilic design, such as a variety of waterfront and green spaces throughout the development. A 3.7km-long green loop will connect to public transportation nodes within Hiera, such as the Jatake Train Station and an integrated transport hub with park-and-ride facilities and a shuttle bus service.

“In building BSD City, Sinar Mas Land emphasises integrated and sustainable city-wide developments. We welcome collaborations with partners who share the same vision to accelerate the development of BSD City,” says Theodore G Thenoch, CEO, BSD residential, of Sinar Mas Land and vice president director of Sinar Mitbana Mas.

Hiera is the first development in BSD City by Sinar Mitbana Mas and will be constructed in phases from 2023. The first phase will include a landed housing estate with a wellness and holistic living-centric design.
