Sunway Property says that an additional RM4 billion in gross development value (GDV) is underway to support Sunway City Ipoh’s sustained socioeconomic growth for the following 10 to 15 years,

According to Sunway City Ipoh executive director Wong Wan Wooi, the project’s current GDV of RM2 billion will increase as a result.

Wong said an eight-story Sunway Medical Centre Ipoh with 260 beds and eight operating rooms will be completed and operational by the first quarter of 2024 on 1.36 hectares of land.

There will be 187 beds in the first phase and 73 beds in the second phase, with a total gross floor area of 448,000 square feet and more than 650 parking spaces.

Upcoming projects include the construction of Ipoh’s largest shopping mall, with a gross floor area of more than one million square feet and more than 2,000 parking spaces.

According to the plan, Sunway City Ipoh would also develop a campus for education on four acres of land.

Just 300 metres from the medical centre, Sunway Property will also debut an upcoming flexi-terrace development that is in line with the Sunway Design and Development Architecture and was created and curated based on four key pillars: sustainability, innovation, health & wellness, and lifestyle & new experiences.

The Flexi-Terrace Development will have 168 paired housing units.

Homes ranging in size from 1,300 square feet to 1,900 square feet will be available in the gated and guarded development, which is scheduled to open in 2023.

Sunway Property will also introduce two new towers of Sunway Onsen Suites, given that the first tower has achieved a take-up rate of more than 98 per cent.

The Sunway Onsen Suites development is Asia’s first serviced suites that integrate natural hot springs.

Wong attributed Sunway Onsen Suites’ success to its distinctive concept, which promotes health and wellbeing, green surroundings, and its strategic location within Sunway City Ipoh’s abundance of amenities, which offers convenience to residents.

Two top-notch resorts, The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat and Lost World of Tambun theme park, hotel, and spa, are located in Sunway City Ipoh.

“Our investors and owners are attracted to the rental yield and potential capital appreciation that is inherent in a unique resort-like development within Ipoh which is garnering rising international acclaim both as a tourism township and global retirement destination. In addition, they are assured by Sunway Property’s co-investor proposition which guarantees lifelong progress,” Wong said.

Meanwhile, Wong said that Sunway Property and Majlis Bandaraya Ipoh are working together to rehabilitate Jalan Tambun for RM16 million from the North-South Expressway exit to the Taman Perpaduan Interchange.

The developer is putting up RM8 million for the project, which should be completed by the middle of 2023.

Seven traffic lights will be removed and replaced with u-turns as part of the upgrade, according to Wong, which will drastically cut down on travel time.

“Sunway City Ipoh aims to become the biggest “R&R” for travellers on the North-South Expressway which could reach 4 million vehicles during peak season. As a result of the improved connectivity, we are already getting a lot of interest from several notable F&B operators, including more drive-thru F&B outlets in addition to the current McDonald’s and Starbucks here,” he said.
