KUALA LUMPUR (March 1): Mitraland Group recorded RM400 million in sales last year. This year, Mitraland group chairman Datuk Johan Ariffin, founder and deputy executive chairman Chuah Theong Yee and chief operating officer Tan Chee Hoaw are targeting a 50% increase to RM600 million, driven by three new launches with a combined gross development value (GDV) of RM1.8 billion across the industrial, landed residential and high-rise residential segments.

The first launch of the year will be a 100-acre industrial park development in Dengkil, Selangor. It will be the developer’s single-largest launch of the year at a GDV of RM700 million. In the third quarter, the developer is unveiling the third instalment of its strata landed Quartz series located at Klang, which carries a GDV of RM800 million. The third launch is Novva Residences in Klang South. It is part of the bigger integrated development Novva @ Gravit8. The residential component has a GDV of RM300 million.

Meanwhile, KSL Holdings Bhd (KL:KSL) has officially launched the Riveria Garden township development in Iskandar Puteri, Johor on Feb 28. The 1,026 acres project has a GDV of RM2.1 billion, consisting of landed homes, serviced residences, commercial shoplots and clubhouse in a riverfront and seafront setting.

The interior design and renovation works for this five-storey home took about eight months from start to finish, and the owners spent approximately RM500,000 on the renovation, with flooring being the major cost component.

In an interview with telecommunications tower infrastructure company EdgePoint Towers Sdn Bhd, chief operating officer Ravin Vickneswaran shares that digital connectivity infrastructure is a key component for evolving properties, much like other utilities such as power substations, water pipes and sewage systems. It should be treated as a core utility.
