The European Union has approved the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) under the principle of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), with enforcement starting from July 26, 2024. This directive requires EU companies to ensure environmental and human rights compliance across their supply chains, with penalties up to 5% of global turnover for non-compliance. As a result, EU business will prioritize partnerships with suppliers that meet these standards, impacting Malaysian companies who must comply or risk losing EU contracts.

In Malaysia, green building certifications like Green Building Index (GBI) and Green Real Estate (GreenRE) are essential for demonstrating sustainability. Green buildings provide a valuable way for owners, investors and companies to demonstrate their dedication to sustainable practices, reduce carbon emissions and enhance both employee well-bring and living conditions.
