KUALA LUMPUR, 7th Mar 2024 – On Wednesday, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd announced its commitment to provide RM253.5 million in financing for the construction of a data center in Cyberjaya, Selangor.

The tawarruq asset financing facilities will support the development of a tier-three data center by Pi Data Centre Sdn Bhd (PiDC), according to a statement from Bank Pembangunan. However, the statement did not disclose additional details about the data center, including its power consumption.

“This initiative will not only contribute to the establishment of resilient digital infrastructure but also foster the expansion of the digital workforce, thereby strengthening Malaysia’s proficiency in digital innovation,” commented Roni Abdulwahab, the CEO of Bank Pembangunan.

Ong Chin Seong, the CEO of PiDC and chairman of the National Tech Association of Malaysia (Pikom), expressed that the data center will adhere to the utmost standards of efficiency and performance. Moreover, it will act as a driving force for environmental sustainability and talent development.
