Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is optimistic that the upcoming East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project will bring economic development to the state’s northern part, such as Serendah and Batang Kali.

“The ECRL’s northern alignment will turn Serendah into a rail transportation hub,” he said.

The ECRL project, which will include construction of the Serendah Bypass (to resolve congestion faced by the rail service), is set to provide improvements to the transport, logistics and even services industries.

“At the same time, the state government has received proposals for tourism development on parcels of land along the route heading to Genting Highlands.

“These proposals need to be looked into in a holistic manner as we need to balance the environmental aspects with the potential for development”

Amirudin was speaking after launching the Ion Belian Garden sales gallery and show unit in Batang Kali.

Also present were Selangor Speaker Ng Suee Lim and NCT Group of Companies group executive director Datuk Joe Yap Fook Choy.

Ion Belian Garden is a white knight development project by NCT Platinum Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of NCT Group of Companies.

Previously known as Genting Valley, the original project was abandoned 17 years ago by its first developer.

“Ion Belian Garden is set to be the largest township in the northern part of Selangor,” said NCT Group of Companies group managing director Datuk Seri Yap Ngan Choy.

On the many abandoned housing projects in Selangor, Amirudin said these would be reviewed on a case by case basis.
